Brian had a 4 day weekend recently (he took the 13th off for his Birthday leave and the 16th was MLK Day), so we decided to take a trip down to Dallas. We had originally planned on going for the whole weekend, but quickly realized that we weren't sure what there was to do exactly. There are a lot of cool things there (like the 6th Floor Museum, which is all about JFK's assassination) that would not be very enjoyable with two kids in tow.
We ended up just driving down to Grapevine on Saturday morning and taking the girls to the "Lego Land Discovery Center". It had a little ride at the beginning that I will compare to the "Buzz Lightyear" ride at Disney (if any of you are familiar with that). You sit in a car that goes around a track and you shoot all of the bad guys with a gun. After you get off the ride, there's basically just a big room with lots and lots of Lego activities. My favorite were the giant rubbery Legos. I would seriously love a set of these.
They had several Lego objects for climbing on...a giraffe, a dog, a motorcycle...
And you could build your own little cars and race them down a track against other people.
Some things that I didn't get pictures of were the jungle gym, the 3-D Lego movie, and the mini town (Lego replicas of all of the famous sites/buildings in Dallas). But I couldn't resist taking a picture with Lego Dirk Nowitzki. I look pretty shrimpy next to a professional basketball player!
Speaking of the NBA- that evening, Brian and Greta went to the Mavericks game against the Kings, while Jade and I chilled in the hotel room.
Both the girls stayed up way too late and were pretty crabby all day Sunday, so it was a good thing they had Monday to get back to normal before we had to get back to our regular routine.
